Lea Carlson is a production and costume designer based in Toronto and a  filmmaker. She is a member of the DGC as a production designer and works as a costume designer in both IATSE and NABET. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her work has been nominated multiple times for outstanding achievement by the CSA awards, the Geminis, and for the Dora Mavor Moore awards for theatre. She has worked on two Academy Award nominated films including Room.

She studied scenography at Montreal’s Concordia University,  landscape architecture at the University of Toronto and is completing her MFA in film production at York University.

Whether working collaboratively or on her own personal projects, her work is about storytelling; how objects and spaces tell stories, and how seemingly unconnected things on their own add up to something more.
